Dear Folks,

Well, it has been another absolutely boring day. Got up about nine and keyed the crypto guns for the day. I was supposed to fly today, but the plane we were going to fly had something wrong with it. It seems like ever time I'm supposed to fly it is cancelled. I've only been logged in on eight flights, but I've flown 17 or 18 if you count all those flights between here and Long Thanh.

I heard rumors today that the Aviation Detachment may be done away with some time after May 1st. The detachment isn't actually authorized to exist. The planes and choppers belong to the different units in the 1st Signal Brigade. They are just hand-receipted to the detachment for convenience. It's just a rumor. If it did happen I would just be reassigned somewhere in the 1st Signal Brigade.

I guess that's the only news for today. Got two letters today.

I've been reading a lot in the newspaper about the unit Tom Ward is in at Khe San. 1st of the 5th Infantry (Mechanized). Seems they are taking quite a beating.

Well, that's it for now.

Rick
