Dear Folks,

We just got a call from the officers. The mission kicks off ASAP. So Kelm goes up first. According to the schedule we had set up the other day I should go up at about 6 in the morning. This is still in support of the 1st of the 5th. The last time I heard about them on the news they were near Khe San.

The mail plane came up this morning. I got the two letters you wrote on the 31st. We had another sunny hot day here at beautiful Da Nang, South Vietnam. Spent the afternoon bowling at Freedom Hill. Our sneaky little pinsetter today worked just the opposite of the one the other day. She would add pins when we weren't looking.

I doubt that the E-5 board Kelm and Harrelson went down south for will effect my E-4. They were competing on a group level and there was only one E-5 stripe up for grabs anyway.

We have these little gadgets we use to set our crypto gear on the planes. Each day we have to set a different code in the "guns."  That's what I mean when I say key the crypto guns.

I haven't heard anything but support for Calley on this side of the ocean. Everybody thinks Calley got a bad deal and I agree with them. I doubt that we've heard the last of it anyway. They'll be appealing it in the courts for the next three years.

Well, not much happening around here now. Survived the day on RPI hotdogs.

Rick
